Travel Kwento: Singapore Family Trip

As a pre-birthday celebration, we brought CJ to Singapore. It was our first out-of-the-country trip with a toddler and we weren’t really sure what to expect. We took advantage of the airfare being free for babies below 2 years so we scheduled it a few days before CJ’s 2nd birthday.

It was a 4D/3N trip and it was exhausting. It felt like our first ever Singapore trip 5 years ago when the hubby and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary.

Things didn’t exactly go as planned. Having a toddler makes things unpredictable and there were places we didn’t get to go to. But it’s ok, we’ll go back and try again. 😛

We stayed at the Hotel Royal @ Queens. It’s very near the Bras Basah station which was convenient. We chose it because the room comes with a buffet breakfast and they have a bathtub which is important for us coz CJ hates showers.

Feedback about the hotel:
– Near Bras Basah station was a plus.
– Bath tub.
– Breakfast included.
– Pool was small. We didn’t bother to use it.
– No complementary water.
– Room was so-so. It was clean but… when we looked under the bed to fetch something CJ threw, there was an abandoned bottle of perfume (probably from a previous tenant and a plastic bag).
– Bathroom had some mildew here and there and looked quite old.
– Breakfast was so-so. Not a lot of choices, actually. I remember mashed potatoes, baked beans, potatoes, steamed veggies, bacon, rice, fried noodles, porridge, pancakes, french toasts, bread, egg, yogurt, fruits, choco flakes and corn flakes.
– Check-in and check-out was a breeze.
– Nice staff.

So on with our trip… we were planning to go to Marina Bay area on our first day so CJ can play at the Gardens by the Bay but like I said, things didn’t go as planned. We went to Bugis first (which was near our hotel) to have lunch and I ended spending some time looking at the clothes and reminiscing. By the time we were done, it was too late to go to the Gardens by the Bay and we were so exhausted. We went back to the hotel to rest and then Orchard for dinner.

Then we walked around the area where the hubby and I stayed a few years ago before going back to the hotel. It was really nostalgic and it was so nice to be able to bring CJ there. I just wish he understood what we were telling him. 😛

Bus ride (while CJ throws a tantrum) and walking around Wilkie Edge

Our 2nd day was spent at the Singapore Zoo. CJ seemed to enjoy walking around but he didn’t really care about the animals. Hehe.

This trolley was really handy. I wish they have them for adults too. 😛

The top photo was from our first trip to Singapore. The bottom ones were with CJ. It was a real challenge getting these photos. He refused to stand still.

We then went to Genki Sushi for dinner. I so missed the scallops. 20160928_182954.jpg

The next day, we went to Sentosa to visit the S.E.A. Aquarium. Again, CJ didn’t care… We actually ended up doing it twice. The first time was me exploring the place while the hubby tried to subdue CJ and get him to pay attention (he never did). Then, we went to the Typhoon Theatre where CJ ended up falling asleep. The hubby and I thought it would be a good chance to really see the aquariums while he was sleeping so we went exploring again.

After the aquarium, we just took some photos and went to Siloso Beach so CJ can walk around. We were planning to ride the cable car but the external cable car was under maintenance so we decided to skip it.

We checked out of the hotel the next day but we left our luggage at the concierge and we went to Marina Bay area. We were supposed to go to the Gardens by the Bay but we never got to go because we ran out of time. 😦

I love the Bras Basah station.

Sight-seeing before leaving

He had fun… ❤

I miss Singapore already… Will definitely go back when CJ’s a bit older and do everything again and more. 😀
