I thought about having a small birthday celebration for CJ’s 2nd birthday right after we were done with the first one. The Harry Potter party was great but we don’t have the budget for a big party anymore so it was just going to be a small party this time around. This plan was put on hold because of so many things including our first out of the country trip. About 6 weeks before his birthday though, we decided to go ahead with the party…
I found this cafe at Alabang that has a party package for 15 and we went from there. After checking the place out, we booked it and then decided on a theme. Since it is CJ’s current favorite movie (he can watch it at least 3 times a day), we went with a Zootopia themed birthday.
It was a bit of a challenge because we only had a few weeks to prepare and our trip was the same week as his birthday so we really didn’t have a lot of time. Plus, since Zootopia is still fairly new, there are not a lot of ideas available online that I could work with like Harry Potter.
Anyways, here is how we incorporated the theme…
The monogram. It’s very similar to the Harry Potter one. But what can I say? I have very limited skills and can only use MS Paint. Huhu… I downloaded the font and used an image available online.
The banner. I got this chalkboard banners from Celebrations Party Central then got blue, orange and green markers and asked our niece to make these by copying the Zootopia font a couple of hours before the party. I think it turned out pretty well.
The cake. I didn’t want an elaborate cake so we had his Zootopia themed photo printed on the cake. Thankfully, Red Ribbon had a design the kinda fit our color scheme.
Cupcakes. I ordered the cupcakes from the cafe and just requested for green, blue and orange icing. Then, I downloaded a printable cake topper online and the hubby made the toppers for me.
The Big Donut sugar cookies. I ordered these from the Cafe too. I was originally thinking of buying actual donuts from Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donut (they have those choco candy sprinklers that look like Clawhauser’s donuts) but I figured people would be too stuffed to eat a donut and the sugar cookies would be less fuss to take home and can double as a gift to the guests.
Simple decors. Found some printable posters online and I just stuck them to the wall like this…
We got these animal straws for the kids that were never used. They’re really cute though.
CJ’s photoshoot. We had a pre-birthday photoshoot and just had a dozen of them printed and displayed on a ferris wheel we also got from Celebrations Party Central.
Bottlecap souvenirs. The bottlecaps had different Zootopia images and so did the box.
Fox and Sloth cake pops. The sloths didn’t come out as well as I hoped but the fox was really cute.
And that’s basically it…
