Dining in the Sky: The Nest, Vivere

Here’s another food post to start the New Year. 🙂 Happy New Year, everyone!

As you may have noticed from some of my posts here, the hubby and I love trying out different restaurants and I don’t think that would change any time soon. Although, we probably have to lessen dining out to save for some of our planned trips this 2014. 😉 Thankfully, Deal Grocer is there to help let us experience new restaurants and food at a discounted price.

This time, we tried dining in the sky at Vivere Hotel’s restaurant at Alabang called The Nest. It is a restaurant that is semi-airconditioned and is located at the 31st floor of the hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and can be romantic too specially at night. You have a really nice view of the city and the lights below are really pretty.

Nice view, right?

To start us off, we were served with the usual bread… IMAG2288

We ordered a mango and strawberry shake. The mango could use a bit more sugar while the strawberry one was too sweet. IMAG2289

Mussels Rockefeller as appetizers (360PHP). Jay and I love baked mussels so this was something that I really wanted to try. It was served in a bed of warm salt and the mussels reminded me a bit of the creamy scallops from Genki Sushi (though I prefer the scallops). IMAG2292

US Beef Tenderloin Steak (890PHP). We usually order our steaks well done but the waiter advised us that the meat might be too tough and he recommended either medium-rare or medium-well. We went with the latter. The vegetable side-dish is Asparagus, Corn & Mushroom Sautee and the starch is Loaded Baked Potato. IMAG2297

Seafood Medley (560PHP). Skewered shrimp, squid, scallops and fish fillet plus potato croquette and some veggies. IMAG2298

We only ordered two main dishes and we initially thought that it wouldn’t be enough cause the serving seems small but it actually was enough. We couldn’t even finish everything because we also ordered dessert.

Decadent Molten Lava Cake with Salted Caramel (220PHP). This was the biggest disappointment of the night. The hubby and I love molten lava cakes and that’s what we usually order for dessert. I gotta say that this is the worst we’ve ever had so far… (sorry, but it’s true). The cake was too dry and the chocolate inside didn’t even “flow out” the way it was supposed to. Now that I think about it, I should have sent it back and had it replaced.IMAG2303

All in all, it was still a nice dinner date. Ambiance was great and the food was good.
